What is Oriental medicine?
Acupuncture and natural herbal remedies date back at least 3,000 years, although the earliest known written record of Oriental medicine is the Huangdi neijing from the 3rd century BCE. That opus provided the theoretical concepts for Oriental medicine that remain the basis of its practice today.
In essence, traditional healers seek to restore a dynamic balance between two complementary forces, yin (passive) and yang (active), which pervade the human body. According to traditional Oriental practice, a person is healthy when harmony exists between these two forces; illness, on the other hand, results from a breakdown in the equilibrium of yin and yang. Oriental medicine works by correcting these imbalances in the body. Our physical, emotional, and mental states, as well as our relationship to our environment and the natural world affect our ability to maintain harmony.
Our services help bring the body back into balance and stimulate the body to heal itself, which can lead to long-term improvements in wellness. Treating the imbalance does not just treat the symptoms or mask the condition, but rather corrects the root of the problem by encouraging self-healing of the body. When your body regains its natural balance, you are healthier, and you feel better.
